In 2025–2026, China's wind and solar power equipment enters a wave of large-scale retirement. By the end of 2025, China had decommissioned a cumulative 3.15 GW of wind capacity — more than 2,900 turbines — generating roughly 53,600 tonnes of waste blades, while cumulative retired PV modules reached 10 GW, or about 700,000 tonnes. By the end of 2030, cumulative retired wind capacity is expected to reach 45 GW, generating about 765,000 tonnes of waste blades, and cumulative retired PV modules are projected to hit 30 GW, or roughly 2.16 million tonnes. Wind and solar equipment recycling has become a defining issue for the sustainable development of the new energy industry. This conference focuses on the efficient recycling and valorization of wind turbine blades and PV modules, exploring frontier technologies — mechanical shredding, pyrolysis, and chemical recycling — as well as full value-chain topics such as retired equipment assessment, echelon use, and high-value applications of recycled materials.
