Metallic mineral resources are non-renewable, but metal materials can be reprocessed into usable materials through recovery, smelting, and other processes, enabling circular use. In 2026, China's recycled metals industry is shifting from extensive operations toward specialization, compliance, and efficiency. The 15th Five-Year Plan explicitly calls for higher-value utilization of “urban minerals” — end-of-life vehicles, waste electrical and electronic equipment, scrap steel, and scrap non-ferrous metals — through more standardized collection and refined dismantling. This conference focuses on technological breakthroughs and industrial synergy for more efficient, greener recycled metals, exploring frontier technologies such as intelligent dismantling, precision sorting, and the fine separation and purification of rare and precious metals, as well as key issues including carbon footprint accounting and value-chain coordination.
