The material handling problem in processing industries

In chemicals, new materials, recycling, and new energy sectors, solid powder, pellet, and flake handling sits behind the final product - and it is where production problems often start. High-pressure feeding risks gas and dust escape. Material properties vary widely, so selection by experience alone often produces mismatched equipment. Poor mixing uniformity limits downstream product quality. Complex processing problems lack pre-project testing and validation.

Zhenglong (正隆智能) focuses on this segment. The company does not serve end-consumer markets, but supplies automated systems to customers

including BASF, Mobil, Veolia, and Cyclone Technology. In 2025, Zhenglong was certified as a Jiangsu Province specialized and sophisticated SME.

1.6 MPa high-pressure feeder

In chemicals and new materials sectors, powders and pellets sometimes need to be fed into pressurized reactors or processing equipment. The feeder must withstand high pressure while controlling dust and gas escape.

Comparable feeders on the market typically handle around 1.0 MPa. After about two years of R&D, Zhenglong's new feeder reaches 1.6 MPa, extending the range of high-pressure process applications. The design balances sealing, pressure resistance, material adaptability, and operating stability.

A laboratory, not just a factory

The high-pressure feeder is the product of long-term material testing, process validation, and system integration. Zhenglong was founded in 2006. After moving to Jintan Economic Development Zone in 2013, the company built the Intelligent Solid Material Testing and Research Platform with Changzhou University next to its smart production workshop.

For each customer, process, and material, Zhenglong analyzes material properties first, then runs conveying, batching, and mixing tests. The platform tests particle size, moisture content, bulk density, flowability, and brittleness, combined with conveying pressure, air speed, throughput, breakage rate, and mixing uniformity to support engineering design.

This "test first, then validate, then design" approach reduces the uncertainty of experience-based selection and improves the match between solution and actual operating conditions.

Zhenglong and Changzhou University also set up a channel for solving industry pain points. Complex technical problems from customers are directed to university research teams for targeted work. Through this "enterprise poses problem — university solves — market validates" model, Zhenglong has delivered over 400 material handling projects and states it has experience processing nearly 300 material types. Business covers power batteries, recycled plastics, and new materials.

Project cases
  • PET chip mixing uniformity: For chemical fiber, PET chip uniformity affects spinning stability. Zhenglong built a PET conveying and mixing system using center-pipe or wall-attached mixing silos, with material entering the mixing zone from different heights and circumferential directions, then circulated and mixed repeatedly via belts and bucket elevators to improve consistency.
  • Central feeding and batching: An EPP-001 central feeding and batching system covering feed silos, feeding devices, weighing units, conveying equipment, dust collectors, and control systems. Centralized control reduces manual operations and enables automated, process-based, traceable material handling.
  • Recycled PET flake consistency: A bottle flake mixing, conveying, and batching system. Washed and sorted PET flakes are conveyed to mixing silos and circulated repeatedly to improve uniformity. Under specific washing, sorting, mixing, and spinning conditions, homogenization improves recycled PET flake stability for downstream spinning.
